Nora Teipen
With more than thirty-five years of teaching experience, Nora utilizes both Suzuki and Traditional methods of violin instruction. She has a B.A. from Duke University, with post-graduate work from Indiana University in Opera Performance. She earned her M.M. from Cincinnati-Conservatory for music.
Nora began her teaching career with Joyce Durfee in Houston, Texas and subsequently developed programs in Galveston, Clear Lake, and Indianapolis, Indiana. She started Teipen Performing Arts in University City, Missouri in 1993. The business has grown tremendously since then and includes a faculty of fourteen teachers and over two hundred students.
When Nora isn't teaching, she continues to pursue her passion as an opera singer, travelling to New York and beyond for auditions and performances. She has performed multiple times as a soloist for the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra, Masterworks Chorale, and University City Symphony. In addition, she has taken roles with Winter Opera Saint Louis ranging from Delilah, to Rigoletto's Maddalena, to Werther's Charlotte.
