Mo Egeston
Maurice "Mo" Egeston is a pianist, band leader, composer, and educator from St. Louis, Missouri. He spends his musical time leading bands (Mo E All Stars & Mo E Trio) and writing music, while also working as a collaborative artist, accompanist, and educator in both the classroom and private studio.
Mo did his graduate studies in chamber music and accompanying at Southern Illinois University (Edwardsville) with Dr. Linda Perry. He has taught college classes and private piano lessons in the St. Louis area since 1995 (Applied Piano, Vocal Jazz Combo, Improvisation, Music Appreciation, Music of the United States, Masterpieces of Music).
A 25 year veteran of the St. Louis music scene, Mo first emerged as a band leader in the 1990s with regional favorites Vargas Swing. He later wrote and released music globally with the pioneering live electronic music project Urban Jazz Naturals. He was also a member of St. Louis rock band, Brothers Lazaroff, from 2008-2014.
As an educator and musician, Mo believes in an open minded approach to style. He enjoys teaching students of all ages, interests, and skill levels and can provide students with the opportunity to explore classical methods, jazz improvisation, accompanying/chamber music techniques, and music theory. Once the foundations of note reading and basic piano technique are in place, students are also welcome to explore the worlds of rock, pop, and soul.
